About Us |
|
The owners of Stitched In Stone are Glen & Tammy Romel. Glen fulfilled Tammy's lifelong dream of owning her own sewing store as her 2006 Christmas present. Imagine Tammy's surprise and delight at such a wonderful present from her husband. As any of their friends and customers will tell you, the two work very well together. Glen cuts the fabric, runs the register, and does the paperwork. Tammy teaches classes and does all of the above also. Tammy is confined mainly to a wheelchair but don't let that fool you. The way she always has a smile and a friendly word for all who enter. |

She readily gives her time and experience to all. Tammy was a sewing instructor at JoAnn's Fabric in Methuen, MA for two years. She moved on to become an instructor at Audrey's Sew N Vac in Salem, NH for seven years. It was here that she received a following of students that knew Tammy had the answers to all their questions and that anything she didn't know she found out for them. Her teaching methods are full of encouragement, she always tells the students to relax and have fun with it and not to stress out. She helps all of her students out of their sewing disaster's with an ease that comes from all her years of experience and great skill. Tammy has 6 years of sewing machine repairs and sewing machine tune-up experience. She has experience and training in sewing software. Tammy is a licensed Martha Pullen Teacher. She is skilled with sewing machines, sergers, machine embellishment, felting, and long arm quilting. Glen and Tammy have been married for almost 22 years. Glen was a welder fabricator for over 30 years. They are the parents of four wonderful children and they have 8 grandchildren. Tammy has started a wonderful tradition with each of her granddaughters. As each granddaughter turns nine years old, they receive a sewing machine on their birthday. Tammy's love of sewing started at the early age of 5. Her grandmother taught her how to sew, knit, and crochet, and she would like to pass that along to her grandkids. Her father had a lifetime career in the army and this enabled Tammy to study cooking & sewing in some fantastic places. She has studied in Paris, France; Munich, Germany; North Carolina; South Carolina and Texas. Stitched In Stone offer classes in knitting, crocheting, quilting, heirloom sewing, serger, and also offers private lessons. They have 2 large classrooms, and offer daytime and evening classes, as well as classes on the weekend. Tammy teaches a lot of the classes and also has skilled teachers to teach in the second classroom. Stop by and pick up a class schedule, or check out the schedule here on our site. The store has fabrics and notions, beads, yarn, quilting kits, patterns and books. The store has a lovely selection of material and yarn. Come in for a visit. Please come in and say hello and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. If you plan on looking at all the material give yourself plenty of time as the selection is extensive.
